Around The Majors- Friday Rapid Fire

Let's spit this quick. Fast and informative.

-Joe Torre elected to reject the Yankees' offer because the number of years was insulting and gave him no security, and he was upset at the incentive base of his contract offer. Torre is at peace with his decision.
-Nippon Ham Fighters manager Trey Hillman was hired as Royals skipper today, he was considered a dark horse for the Yankees job, because of his prior experience in the orginazation.
-Josh Beckett was simply sensational last night as the Red Sox forced a game 6 with a 7-1 win. Game 6 is tomorrow night with Curt Schilling facing Fausto Carmona.
-The Rockies submitted forms at the patent and copyright offices for the sole use of Rocktober. This is almost as rediculous as bringing in the opposing starters ex to sing the national anthem, or anything Manny Ramirez does.
-Dusty Baker will keep pitching coach Dick Pole on his staff, extending the immature laughs in Cincy for at least another season.
-Milwaukee declined the option on Corey Koskie, making him a free agent.
-Like a presidential race, every local paper is endorsing their candidate. The Newark Star-Ledger likes Bobby Valentine, Newsday likes Don Mattingly (as does Johnny Damon), and the New York Post wants Joe Girardi.
-The Chicago Tribune reports that Joe Torre could end up in St Louis if Tony LaRussa leaves the Cardinals. The New York Daily News says that he could go to the Dodgers.
