- The Rangers and Braves are heavily in talks regarding Mark Teixeira. The deal could expand into a blockbuster, with both Atlanta and the Dodgers interested in a reliever to go along with Teixeira. Eric Gagne and Ron Mahay interests Atlanta, Gagne and Joaquin Benoit for the Dodgers. (Dallas Morning News)
- The Angels and Red Sox are also in pursuit of Teixeira. (Fort Worth Star Telegram)
- Mariners scouts aren't enthused with the talent available. They're interested in Dontrelle Willis and Livan Hernandez. Javier Vazquez doesn't want a trade to the west coast, including Seattle. (Seattle Post-Intelligencer)
- The Angels are talking to the White Sox about Paul Konerko and to the Rangers about Teixeira. (LA Times)
- Casey Kotchman may not be an Angel for much longer. (Orange County Register)
- The Yankees have no shot at Teixeira, but the Red Sox might. The Tigers are very interested in Kyle Farnsworth. (NY Post)

- The Yankees have been calling teams to see if they'd take Johnny Damon. The Braves were one of those teams, and they said that the asking price was too high. The Mets have talked about the Astros relief trio, Chad Cordero, and Dotel. Last night, the Braves and Rangers were said to be close to a deal that would send Teixeira and one of Mahay, Benoit, or CJ Wilson in exchange for Jarrod Saltalamacchia, Elvis Andrus, and a minor league pitcher. - Brad Lidge, Al Reyes, and David Weathers aren't available right now. Chad Qualls, Dan Wheeler, Damaso Marte, Eric Gagne, and Octavio Dotel are available but may not be great fits for the Yankees. The Mets are interested in Mark Grudzielanek and Mark Loretta to play second base. (New York Times)

- The Angels are being very persistent in Teixeira talks. They could trade Kotchman, Ervin Santana, and a major leaguer. Bill Stoneman said that he will add an impact bat. Akinori Otsuka may need Tommy John surgery. Detroit and Cleveland have interest in Gagne, but the Tigers wouldn't deal Cameron Maybin straight up for Gagne. The Dodgers won't trade James Loney, Matt Kemp, or Clayton Kershaw in a deal for Teixeira. The Dodgers, Indians, Tigers, Red Sox, and Cubs are interested in Dotel.
